iTunes 6.02 ministore fiasco

Apple gets caught with it's privacy pants down over the iTunes 6.0.2 ministore but it's nice to see the apologists are out there too shooting the messenger. The details are interesting too. It may be a small issue but this all seems to be another step for Apple away from Apple "the nice computer company in Cupertino" to Apple "give use your damn money". Just close the ministore window and don't give them the data.

The OED is looking for references to Joined-up Writing

The Oxford English Dictionary is appealing for references to the phrase "joined-up writing" that preceed 1983. This is rather odd as know the term was current when I was learning joined-up writing in the late 1960s. But did anyone write it down?

Welcome to Joined-up Writing

I got me one of those blog thingies. Finally! No more annoying people with spurious emails.
The title of this blog is a pun, of course. But then again, you knew that. The English call "joined-up writing" what the American's call "cursive writing".

The web is full of joined-up writing: writing joined up to other writing with hyperlinks. I know it sounds pretentious but that's what makes the Web different from a dead tree with bits of burnt dead tree smeared on it.

And then there's Bart Simpson's view of Cursive Writing when writing lines on the chalkboard in the opening to "The Simpssons" episode 2F11.
